David's Meditation for

Epiphany
Traditional New Year House Blessing "20 + C + M + B + 25" A
tradition in the Catholic Church was to hand out blessed chalk at
the Masses for Epiphany, to be used in blessing a home in the New
Year. Write above your doorway as in the example above: 20 (first
two numbers of the year) + C + M + B ( for the 3 Magi, Casper,
Melchior, and Balthasar), then + 25 (last two numbers of the year),
then write below: ' Christus Mansionem Benedicat' (“May Christ
Bless this House.”) -- The four crosses represent the 4 seasons. As
you are writing, pray the following prayer: "Lord God of heaven and
earth, you revealed your only-begotten Son to every nation by the
guidance of a star. Bless this house and all who inhabit it. Fill
us with the light of Christ, that our concern for others may
reflect your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen." ~

The Week of
Prayer for Christian Unity was observed in January during
the octave of St. Peter and St. Paul, the 18th to the 25th January.
The theme for 2025 was: “Do you believe this?” (John 11:26) -
prayers and reflections were prepared by the brothers and sisters
of the monastic community of Bose in northern Italy. Resources are

At 9.47 on 21st April, His Eminence
Cardinal Kevin Joseph Farrell announced the death of Pope Francis:
“Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the
death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7.35 this morning the Bishop
of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire
life was devoted to service to the Lord and His Church. He taught
us to live the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage and
universal love, especially in favour of the poorest and most
marginalized. With immense gratitude for his example as a true
disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to
the infinite merciful love the One and Triune God”.
