Epiphany
Traditional New Year House Blessing "20 + C + M + B + 25" A
tradition in the Catholic Church was to hand out blessed chalk at
the Masses for Epiphany, to be used in blessing a home in the New
Year. Write above your doorway as in the example above: 20 (first
two numbers of the year) + C + M + B ( for the 3 Magi, Casper,
Melchior, and Balthasar), then + 25 (last two numbers of the year),
then write below: ' Christus Mansionem Benedicat' (“May Christ
Bless this House.”) -- The four crosses represent the 4 seasons. As
you are writing, pray the following prayer: "Lord God of heaven and
earth, you revealed your only-begotten Son to every nation by the
guidance of a star. Bless this house and all who inhabit it. Fill
us with the light of Christ, that our concern for others may
reflect your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen." ~

The Week of
Prayer for Christian Unity was observed in January during
the octave of St. Peter and St. Paul, the 18th to the 25th January.
The theme for 2025 was: “Do you believe this?” (John 11:26) -
prayers and reflections were prepared by the brothers and sisters
of the monastic community of Bose in northern Italy. Resources are

on the first Friday of March. Each year a service is written by a
group from a different country; this year it was composed by the

of Prayer movement, as it was called originally, began in the late
19th century in America, and since then has developed and grown,
always promoting reconciliation through an ecumenical approach. The

On 21st April, His Eminence Cardinal
Kevin Joseph Farrell announced the death of Pope Francis: “Dearest
brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of
our Holy Father Francis. At 7.35 this morning the Bishop of Rome,
Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was
devoted to service to the Lord and His Church. He taught us to live
the values of the Gospel with fidelity, courage and universal love,
especially in favour of the poorest and most marginalized. With
immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord
Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite merciful
love the One and Triune God”.

'God of life, there are days when the burdens we carry chafe our shoulders and wear us down, when the road seems dreary and endless, the skies grey and threatening; when our lives have no music in them, our hearts are lonely, and our souls have lost their courage. Flood the path with light, we beseech thee, Lord, turn our eyes to where the heavens are full of promise.' ...

A Call to Prayer and Public Witness for Peace in the Holy Land
Churches
Together Britain & Ireland ~ A Prayer for the Holy Land for 21st September:
Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: In your mercy, provide for all those in Gaza and beyond who suffer from hunger and starvation, that they may be given both physical bread to nourish their bodies and heavenly bread to sustain their souls.
By the power of your Spirit, bring a speedy end to this cruel war, the release of all captives, care for the sick and wounded, comfort for those who have lost loved-ones, and the opening of a pathway for a just and lasting peace here in the very homeland where your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, ministered during his earthly life;
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

website article ~ His installation as Diocesan Bishop will be on the 29 November 2025 at the Cathedral Church of Saint Mary and Saint Boniface, Plymouth.
October
is dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. We
stand with Our Lady at the foot of the Cross. We stand with Our Lady in our
solidarity with refugees and migrants, with prisoners, and with all our brothers
and sisters suffering throughout the world. Prayer: Mary Most Holy
Mother of All Nations, Holy Mother of all people, erase the lines we have drawn
to separate us, nation from nation, tribe against tribe. Melt our frozen
hearts, so that we can love again. Filled with the Holy Spirit who flows
in your wake, how can we possibly make war against our brothers and sisters?
Safe in your embrace, how could we hold onto any concept of “other”?
Blessed One, we join our voice with yours, that your message of peace and
justice may penetrate the troubled minds of all leaders. Let the children
of all the countries of the world be one! (prayer by Mirabai
