Flood the path with light, we beseech thee, Lord, turn our eyes to where the heavens are full of promise.' ~ St. Augustine

CAFOD: Harvest Family Fast day prayer: “God, who called you out of darkness into his own marvellous light.” 1 Peter 2:9 God, you call us out of darkness. May we hear your voice in the cry of our brothers and sisters in crisis. As you walk alongside us always, may we walk beside one another listening and responding in love. Shine the light of your compassion through us, dispelling chaos, fear and despair. Breathe hope and courage into all our hearts as we work together to rebuild once more. Strengthen us, Lord and keep us steadfast. Bring healing and comfort to all and lead us renewed into your marvellous light. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Diocese: Homelessness - How can we help? Meeting a homeless person on the streets, especially if they have nowhere to go that night, can be quite shocking and worrying. To think that an individual will be cold, wet and vulnerable can invoke a host of emotions. Decision-making around how we act for that person, however, needs to remain clear, needs to keep the homeless person at the heart of any decision, but also needs to keep you safe from harm. People experiencing homelessness are among the most vulnerable to COVID-19. Any support needs to minimise the risk of infection. Caritas Plymouth in partnership with St Petrocs, Cornwall, has produced a guide  'Advice On Engaging with People who are Homeless' for supporting people who are homeless, - 'Love one another as I have loved you' (John 13:34-35) - available on the Diocesan website link above. Catholic Childrens' Society Plymouth - 'Stretch Out Your Hands' appeal ... 'In every country and community across the world, the coronavirus pandemic is turning children’s lives upside down. We urgently need your help to continue to support vulnerable children and their families throughout the Diocese.

The number of grant applications received has increased as a result of Covid-19 with more families needing help to meet basic needs. As alternative fundraising, we set up a crowdfunding page. Please help to reach the target of £6000 by donating via the website here.

Pope Francis’ Prayer for Protection during the Coronavirus Pandemic. O Mary, You shine continuously
on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick. At the foot of the cross, you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need. We are certain that you will provide, so that as at Cana in Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the Father’s will and to do what Jesus tells us: He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen. We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test - and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
'Prayer of Pope Francis’ in Encyclical, “Fratelli Tutti, Brothers and Sisters, all” (see links here) “O God, Trinity of love, from the profound communion of your divine life, pour out upon us a torrent of fraternal love. Grant us the love reflected in the actions of Jesus, in his family of Nazareth, and in the early Christian community. Grant that we Christians may live the Gospel, discovering Christ in each human being, recognising him crucified in the sufferings of the abandoned and forgotten of our world, and risen in each brother or sister who makes a new start. Come, Holy Spirit, show us your beauty, reflected in all the peoples of the earth, so that we may discover anew that all are important, and all are necessary, different faces of the one humanity that God so loves. Amen”.

Prayer to Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael: "Heavenly King, You have given us archangels to assist us during our pilgrimage on earth;  Michael is our protector; I ask him to come to my aid, fight for all my loved ones, and protect us from danger:  Gabriel is a messenger of the Good News; I ask him to help me clearly hear Your voice and to teach me the truth;  Raphael is the healing angel; I ask him to take my need for healing and that of everyone I know, lift it up to Your throne of grace and deliver us back to the gift of recovery.  Help us, O Lord, to realise more fully the reality of archangels and their desire to serve us. Holy angels, pray for us. Amen."

Medjugorje: message for the world via visionary Marija, December 25th 2020: “Dear children! I am carrying to you little Jesus who brings you peace, Him who is the past, present and future of your existence. Little children, do not permit for your faith and hope in a better future to be extinguished, because you are chosen to be witnesses of hope in every situation. That is why I am here with Jesus that He may bless you with His peace. Thank you for having responded to my call.” ... more from Medjugorje

Our Lady’s message to Jakov Dec. 25, 2020: “Dear children, also today Jesus is here beside you, even when you think that you are alone and that light does not exist in your life. He is here and has never left you or distanced Himself from you.
The light of His birth illuminates this world and your life. His Heart is always open towards you, to receive your every pain, every trial, fear and need. His arms are extended towards you, that as a father, He may embrace you and tell you how important you are for Him, how much He loves you and cares for His children. Children, is your heart open towards Jesus? Have you completely surrendered your life into His hands? Have you accepted Jesus as your father, to whom you can always turn and in Him find consolation and everything you need to live true faith? That is why, my children, surrender your hearts to Jesus and permit Him to begin to rule your lives, because only in this way, will you accept the present and be able to face the world in which you live today. With Jesus, every fear, suffering and pain disappear, because your heart accepts His will and everything that comes into your life. Jesus will give you the faith to accept everything and nothing will distance you from Him—because He firmly holds you by the hand and does not permit for you to distance and lose yourselves in difficult moments—because He has become the Lord of your life. I bless you with my motherly blessing.”

Letter from Ivan Dragicevic Medjugorje (Dec 2020). My dear friends in Christ, Our lives have been changed since the temporary darkness of this storm has entered the Church and the world. Life seems complicated and uncertain; our hearts are restless. Many feel anxious and frightened. We seek clarity; we seek light; we seek true peace. Now more than ever, our Mother's voice is being heard. Our Lady is the new voice calling out in the desert: “Do not be afraid of the storm! It is more important to prepare your hearts for the Lord! Live in hope!“
Our Lady gives us the remedy of hope: conversion, prayer from the heart (especially the Rosary), active reading of the Scriptures, frequent confession, fasting and Holy Mass. For nearly 40 years Our Lady has asked us to pray for the realization of her plans.
Dear friends, these plans come from our Father. “Thy will be done”. It is Our Lady's will that we live in “joyful hope” every day, in the faith that Jesus gave us in the Gospel. St. Paul tells us that “hope does not disappoint.” Hope is the “anchor of the soul.” Christmas is a time of great “joyful hope.” It is not simply a sense of optimism. It is the truth. That truth is Jesus Christ. Jesus, our Savior, through the Virgin Mary, came to earth as a man to select and understand us, heal and raise, liberate and transform us into new beautiful creations. Only Jesus is our peace. Jesus is our true hope. Christmas does not apply to expensive gifts that emphasize our wallet and our time. Joy is the real gift of Christmas.
Our Lady says, “Dear children, I want you to become carriers of the peace and joy of God into this world.” Wear it simply: smile a lot, laugh often, do kind gestures, and offer forgiveness. I pray that you will strive to find the deepest of all joys: the knowledge of Christ's joy. I pray in a special way that Jesus may be born anew in your hearts. The Gospel tells us that God is revealed to the little ones. To experience the birth of Jesus means just that — to become small and to approach the deep mystery of the Christmas Nativity scene. The celebration of Christmas invites us to discern the essential from the unimportant things in life.  Therefore, we ask the Lord for perseverance on this path and perfection in faith and love. We pray that we be honest and authentic Christians.
In this spirit, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a blessed New 2021 Year! Peace and good!  Yours, Ivan, Laureen, Kristina, Mikayla, Daniel and Mathew.

A random older message: June 25, 1987 “Dear children! Today I thank you and I want to invite you all to God's peace. I want each one of you to experience in your heart that peace which God gives. I want to bless you all today. I am blessing you with God's blessing and I beseech you, dear children, to follow and to live my way. I love you, dear children, and so not even counting the number of times, I go on calling you and I thank you for all that you are doing for my intentions. I beg you, help me to present you to God and to save you. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
